The verb
helfen means to help: Ich helfe dir. Kann ich Ihnen helfen? Important: helfen takes the dative (jemandem helfen): mir, dir, ihm, ihr, uns, euch, ihnen.

- The perfect uses haben: ich habe geholfen.

Question: the verb is first.

After dass: hilft goes to the end.
Er hat mir sehr geholfen.
Perfect: hat second, geholfen at the end.
Es macht Spaß, anderen Menschen zu helfen.
zu helfen at the end.
Ich weiß nicht, ob er ihr geholfen hat.
After ob: geholfen hat (the helper comes last).
In long sentences, find the helper near the front and the verb at the end of that part. Extra information between commas can wait.
